SWIM Platform

A demonstration and validation environment for System Wide Information Management in air traffic management. It lets air navigation service providers understand SWIM, test real services and scenarios, and secure an implementation suited to their own conditions.

Owned by Knowledge Agency and developed in partnership with LFV Aviation Consulting and Lowcodi. Lowcodi are the developers of the platform.

WHAT IT DOES

An ATM arena for SWIM services

Flight, weather, aeronautical, airport and network information exchanged as SWIM services between the actors of the ATM system: airline, airport, air traffic control, MET and ATFM. Each has its own working position on the same shared information.

UNDERSTANDSWIM as concrete services and scenarios rather than abstract architecture, for management, operational staff and engineers alike.

TESTRealistic end-to-end scenarios such as a significant weather event or an in-flight medical event, run on real SWIM infrastructure.

AMQP message brokerPublish/subscribe distribution of flight, weather and event information to every subscribed actor in real time.

API gatewayA single controlled entry point for REST-based SWIM services: routing, versioning, throttling and monitoring.

Identity providerAuthentication and authorisation for organisations, users and services, the basis for a SWIM governance model.

SWIM adaptersConnect existing systems such as AFTN/AMHS, national databases and tower systems without rebuilding them.

Service portfolioFlight, MET, aeronautical, airport collaboration and network services, from FF-ICE and SIGMET to A-CDM and ATFM measures.

Operations interfaceA purpose-built ATM working position: airspace picture, inbound flights, arrival revisions and activity log, driven live by SWIM services.
